I especially enjoy working with young people and families to foster communication, connection and understanding. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and my approach to counseling is collaborative, bringing the client’s questions and concerns into focus to explore them together and identify and uncover issues they are facing, and to encourage thinking through the many aspects of the issues we face in life. I bring warmth and compassion to these difficult concerns and help clients build on their strengths to find hope and solutions that work with their values and beliefs. It is important for me to work to provide a safe place to explore and foster healing and growth.
When a client is processing identity and gender issues, I feel that it is important to take a holistic approach, seeking to understand and explore the many complicated aspects and experiences that affect gender and sexuality in our human experience. I feel that it is important to consider the benefits and disadvantages of each idea and decision. I am honored to be able to join them as they process ideas and experiences, face difficult things and navigate through them.
I have experience and enjoy working with families, couples and individuals experiencing issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, conflict, anger, divorce and other difficult life transitions and relationships and am also trained in EMDR. I feel privileged to be able to help those who desire to incorporate their faith into their healing and growth.
In my spare time, I love spending time with my husband, our children and our grandchildren. I also love spending time with friends, being outside, hiking, exploring parks, traveling, volunteering, and reading. My husband and I also facilitate marriage classes at our church.
