Appreciating/engaging teens and adults in the process of self-exploration is congruent with my ethics. As a clinical pastoral therapist, I support the work done to live a truly authentic life rather than taking the bypass of a “conversion” process (trying to force someone into embracing their sex documented at birth OR to a transgender identity as a response to social media, peer pressure, or life’s wounds ) as that is likely to result in further psychological distress because one lives in a performative way rather than in an integrative way.
