I’m grounded in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic therapy, which means I look beyond surface symptoms to understand the deeper patterns, often outside of conscious awareness, that shape your feelings, choices, and relationships. Many of these patterns started as ways to cope with earlier experiences, but over time, they can leave you feeling stuck or repeating painful cycles. By bringing these dynamics into awareness, we create space for genuine transformation, not just temporary relief. Psychodynamic therapy looks at trauma not only as an event that happened to you, but as something that lives on inside, shaping how you feel, think, and relate to others. When we experience trauma, especially early in life, our minds develop ways to cope. Some of these strategies protect us, but later they can keep us stuck, causing anxiety, relationship struggles, or feeling emotionally numb. We work to bring these patterns and their emotional roots into awareness. This often means exploring not just memories of what happened, but also the feelings, beliefs, and expectations that grew out of those experiences. These patterns often show up in the present, including in how you experience me in the therapy relationship. That gives us a live opportunity to understand and work through them in a safe, supportive way. Over time, this process can transform the way trauma continues to shape your life, helping you regain a sense of choice and connection.
